PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN
(PCT)
A Patient Care Technician is an important part of the overall patient care team who addresses many individual patient’s needs. PCTs work under the supervision of a licensed nurse or practitioner. Once hired at PMC, Patient Care Technicians will receive training in phlebotomy, EKG technology and nurse aide skills.
Many begin their career in healthcare as a patient care technician. This position can also serve as a pathway for non-medical staff to transition into a patient-centered career at PMC.
Job Duties
- Provide point of care testing such as glucoscans as needed
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility and transfers
- Prepare and collect specimens from patients through phlebotomies.
- Perform 12-lead electrocardiograms
Education/Licensure Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current BLS training required (can be obtained at PMC)
- Completion of nursing fundamentals course or one year experience as a nursing assistant preferred
