PROJECT HEART

Healthcare Employment Around Regional Training

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment in healthcare occupations will increase by 15 percent between 2019 and 2029, adding more jobs than any other occupational group. Recognizing this, Pikeville Medical Center, as an integral driver of the region’s economy, spearheaded an initiative called Project HEART (Healthcare Employment Around Regional Training) to meet the growing need for a strong healthcare workforce.

We knew we could not achieve success if we pursued goals independently. Success requires a team that consistently works together through integrated initiatives that prioritize moving our region forward on multiple fronts to maximize the total impact. Project HEART bridges together the strengths of others and challenges us to think differently about what is possible when we unite as one. With an exceptional team of collaborative partners, we have developed multiple strategies to serve our community better, increase training and further develop our workforce. We believe our efforts will ultimately improve access to essential healthcare services, and result in better health, social, and economic outcomes for the region.
