LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)

Licensed Practical Nurses, or LPNs, are essential members of the healthcare team and are responsible for monitoring patients and providing basic medical attention when necessary. LPNs help promote the comfort of patients by helping them bathe or dress as well as discuss their healthcare needs. LPNs provide basic nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse or other healthcare professional.

Many registered nurses begin their career as an LPN, which is a common way to begin advancement in the nursing field. Training to become an LPN typically takes about a year to complete.
