EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN
(ED TECH)
Emergency Department Techs play a vital role in emergency medicine as part of a team treating patients requiring immediate attention. ED Techs monitor a patient’s vital signs including blood pressure and heart rate. They also provide updates to loved ones on their condition.
ED Techs are important to the efficient running of the Emergency Department as they can help to alleviate extra stress on Emergency Department managers and physicians through the assistance they offer.
Job Duties
- Perform a wide range of clerical and patient care duties in the Emergency Department
- Transport patients to other departments in the hospital when necessary
- Obtain patient vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation
Education/Licensure Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current BLS training required (can be obtained at PMC)
