LABORATORY ASSISTANT
A Laboratory Assistant performs pre-analytical activities related to lab testing, which include verifying accuracy of biological specimen identiļ¬cation and integrity, specimen preparation and transport, lab equipment maintenance and lab supply monitoring. Lab assistants are skilled in working quickly and accurately to provide optimum communication between laboratory and other hospital staff, ensuring the most efļ¬cient specimen workļ¬ow for best patient care.
Job Duties
- Collect, prepare and process the specimens for testing
- Complete basic laboratory tasks such as labeling specimens and sterilizing equipment
- Analyze and provide information on test results
- Load specimens onto automated line and maintain automated line
Education/Licensure Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Laboratory experience preferred
