Medical Assistants work in outpatient or ambulatory care settings such as medical ofﬁces or clinics. MAs are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease and assisting licensed providers in the healthcare setting. Medical assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties and are responsible for obtaining the patient’s medical history. Many times, Medical Assistants are the ﬁrst point of contact with patients and are responsible for updating medical histories and contact information in patient ﬁles.
