PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

A Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacists in performing daily tasks to serve patients and customers. Pharmacy techs fill and label prescriptions. They interact with customers to answer basic questions and direct them to a pharmacist when necessary.

Pharmacy techs are a large part of promoting patients’ satisfaction with their experience and work to help ensure the health and safety of patients. Pharmacy techs are responsible for locating, dispensing and labeling a prescribed medication that is then reviewed for accuracy by a pharmacist before dispensing to the patient.

Job Duties

  • Sort, stock, label medications as well as monitor inventory
  • Interact with customers and patients to answer questions and process transactions
  • Work as part of a team to properly communicate with patients

Education/Licensure Requirements

  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration required (Can obtain once employed at PMC)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
